LEAGUES ARE FORMING NOW (let’s be honest, leagues are ALWAYS forming…)
Red Carpet Rosters is a fantasy sports league for film awards season. Instead of drafting quarterbacks and running backs, you draft films, actors, actresses, directors, and crew members. Instead of touchdowns and yards, your team scores points from real nominations and wins across the entire awards season. And there are a LOT of awards ceremonies. Last I checked, there were nearly 200 separate ceremonies leading to points for fantasy teams. However we always start with the Gotham Awards nominations in late October and always end with the granddaddy of ’em all, the Academy Awards. We also track all the regional critics’ groups and pretty much every guild and industry accolades too. If it’s an Oscar category, there’s a guild award for it.
Where This Started
Red Carpet Rosters began in 2018 as a read-only viewer I built for a small group of friends. I updated every score, every standing, and every roster move including starting lineups by hand after league members told me themselves. Yes, league members had to tell me their starting lineups directly, because there was no way for them to set it themselves.
Since then, the site has gone through two major transformations. The first took it from that manual spreadsheet-in-disguise into a real, self-managed fantasy platform back in 2021, where you could draft, set your own lineup, and compete without needing me involved in EVERY step. However the site still needed a lot of manual intervention, but at least fantasy team owners could set their lineups!
The second major transformation happened in 2026, and it’s the biggest one yet. Nearly every system got rebuilt: joining or starting your own league is now fully self-service, the playoffs were redesigned into a five-round ladder where every team has a real path to the championship, a live in-season ranking system helps you make sharper roster decisions, and the whole site has a fresh look, including player photos throughout. If you’ve played before, welcome back to a site that should feel both familiar and genuinely new.
What We’re Trying to Do
The idea behind Red Carpet Rosters is simple: combine the format and competitiveness of traditional fantasy sports with the drama of film awards season. If you’re a movie lover who’s never followed the Oscars race closely, this is a fun way to start. If you’re already the person in your group who has opinions about who should have been nominated, this gives that instinct somewhere to go.
I care DEEPLY about making this a fun, engaging, joyful, and competitive platform, and each rule and each setting keeps those four things in mind.
Every league runs on head-to-head matchups, real standings, and a genuine playoff race, the same competitive structure you’d expect from any fantasy sport, just applied to the movies, performances, and craftspeople being celebrated all season long.
