This matchup is VERY quick, lasting only three days! January 9 has NINE ceremonies scheduled, so that last day of the matchup is going to be absolutely wild.
At this point of the season, the waiver wire is pretty sparse, but there could be a player that another team dropped, so, as always, the best resource for waiver wire advice is the available players in your own league.
- A SOUND team – Whichever sound team is available that is also Oscar shortlisted, snag up now. The Motion Picture Sound Editors announce their nominations, and if you got the right sound team, you could score more than two points at this single ceremony, which is a big advantage. This matchup is prime to put a SOUND plug in play into your starting lineup.
- Patrick McHale (SCRN) – The co-writer of Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio got six points in Matchup #6, and that kind of momentum this late in the regular season is hard to come by. The Adapted Screenplay category is pretty open, so this could be a valuable option.
- Jonathan Redmond or Matt Villa (EDIT) – Although the Eddie awards are in the future, snagging one of these two editors of Elvis could pay dividends. Currently these two editors are tied for fifth in the CIN/EDIT category, and with ten teams in your league, there’s no reason why these two shouldn’t be on your team.
That’s it for today. Good luck!
